This is an ancient Roman carnelian intaglio, dating to the 2nd – 3rd century A. It finely cut with an image of the Roman sun god Sol, sitting on top of a horse, holding a whip. The intaglio is of an excellent quality and finely cut. It has later been reset into an 18k gold swivel ring. 2nd – 3rd century A.
